Even before pursuing his Master’s degree, Thyagarajan had already completed a year-long association with Naksha Architects based out of Bengaluru. After this, he went on to work with Shibanee and Kamal Architects, Total environment, an architecture and construction firm with a strong focus on green buildings. Soon after his Master’s degree, Thyagarajan began working as a senior architect with Bengaluru-based Opus Architects. Thyagarajan now continues his private practice in Bengaluru and Ranchi.

Thyagarajan is also deeply interested in teaching younger architects the nitty-gritties of the profession. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the WCFA since 2018.
