R Kiran Kumar
R Kiran Kumar began working with Hundredhands, a design firm based out of Bengaluru, in 2011. He worked on various architectural, interior, and competition projects at the firm. Over a decade later, he continues his independent practice in architecture and interior projects.
Kiran has also published at least three seminal journals and essays during his time as an architect. Moreover, he continues to be a visiting faculty at BMSCE in Bengaluru and is regularly called upon to review designs at architecture schools in Bengaluru, Mysore, and Ahmedabad.
Kiran’s research interests include Architectural Strategies, Theory and Drawing. In alignment with these interests, Kiran teaches drawing, theory and design subjects at WCFA. His academic inclination is towards understanding architecture through creative drawing methods and architectural ideas, particularly which are heuristic in nature.
Awards & Recognition
– Kiran was the 2008 Gold Medal – Runner Up for the overall academic performance in B.Arch, University School of Design, Mysore.
– He won the 2010 ‘Louis Kahn Gold Medal’ for the best thesis in M.Arch (Theory and Design), CEPT, Ahmedabad.
– He won the Achyuth Kanvinde Gold Medal for best overall academic performance in M.Arch (Theory and Design), CEPT, Ahmedabad.
